Cyberneura

Run and Log

Runs the shell commands written in a Markdown file and writes the results back into the same file.

An AI agent asks a person to run a command, the person runs it, and the agent reads the result. Run and Log keeps that exchange inside a single file. Like an IPython notebook, commands and their results sit side by side — but the document stays plain Markdown.

On macOS you can also install it with Homebrew:

brew install --cask cyberneura/tap/runandlog

Supported OS: macOS (Apple Silicon) / Linux

github.com/cyberneura/runandlog

Features

  • Fenced shell / sh / bash / zsh blocks become cells, and each result is written back right after its block
  • Use it as a CLI (--list / --run N / --run-all), a TUI, or a desktop app (--gui)
  • Output is shown while the command runs, not once it finishes. Long output (over 50 lines by default) goes to a separate file, linked from the document
  • When sudo, ssh, or git over HTTPS asks for a password, an askpass helper puts the question to you on the terminal, in the TUI, or in a dialog. The answer goes to the command only and is never written to the Markdown
  • A per-cell time limit (--timeout) that stops the whole process group on expiry

Requirements & notes

  • The macOS build is for Apple Silicon and includes the desktop app (GUI). It is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple. The Homebrew cask is Apple Silicon only as well.
  • The Linux build is x86_64, CLI and TUI only, without the GUI (built against glibc).
  • It can also be installed from crates.io with cargo install runandlog.
  • Open source under the MIT License.
